Phil Barnett is the Founder and CEO of Barnett Plumbing & Water Heaters, a Livermore-based plumbing company that has served California’s Tri-Valley since 2005. Born and raised in the Bay Area, Phil built the company on a single promise: treat every home like your own.
What started with one man and one truck has grown into a trusted local institution, a 21-person field and office team, a 15-vehicle fleet, and more than 1,100 five-star reviews. Through that growth, Phil has kept the company anchored to the values he started with: honesty, reliability, and genuine care for the community that raised him.
A graduate of Dublin High School, Phil holds both an undergraduate degree and an MBA in Business from Cal State East Bay. He pairs that business training with two decades of hands-on industry leadership, giving Barnett Plumbing both the discipline of a well-run company and the heart of a neighborhood business.
The Journey
The Barnett Plumbing Story
In 2005, Phil Barnett set out to give the Tri-Valley a higher standard of plumbing service. He had seen too many homeowners frustrated by hidden fees, unreliable scheduling, and rushed work, and he believed the place he called home deserved better.
He started small: one truck, one technician, and a reputation he was willing to put his name on. Word spread. Homeowners came back, and they told their neighbors. To protect that quality as demand grew, Phil launched an in-house training program in 2014 so every technician would carry the same standards into every home.
Today, Barnett Plumbing operates from two locations, its Livermore headquarters and a Pleasanton office, and has pulled more than 3,400 building permits since opening. The company ranks among the top 1% of California contractors, but its mission hasn’t changed since day one: honest, dependable plumbing and fire protection for the Tri-Valley.
