YOUR WATER HEATER
COULD BE AT RISK
HIGH RISK
- Water is leaking from my hot water tank
Rings or discoloration on the floor can be signs of a leak. - There’s corrosion on the fittings or pipes going
into or out of my tank
Corrosion can make the pipe or fittings look green, white, or rust
colored. It has a thick, chalky texture. - My water heater is 6 years old or older
Look for the manufacture date printed on a sticker on the tank.
MEDIUM RISK
- I run out of hot water quickly
Can you take a nice, long, hot shower? - Discolored water comes out of my faucets
Is your hot water as clear as your cold water? - I have less hot water pressure
Run just cold water and then just hot water out of a faucet.
Does the hot water seem to have less pressure? - My water heater makes unusual noises
Popping, hammering, screeching, or sizzling can be a problem.
An occasional ticking noise is normal
LOW RISK
- My water heater temperature dial is set higher

Maintenance You Should Be Doing on Your Hot Water Heater
Flush the tank every year
